Legal and Ethical Implications of AI and Its Impact on the Design Profession
Tom is a shareholder of Straub, Seaman & Allen, P.C. with offices in Michigan and Indiana. Tom completed his B.A. at Indiana State University, summa cum laude, his J.D. at the University of Notre Dame Law School, and his L.L.M. in Taxation at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts in Michigan and Indiana and the United States Tax Court. The primary focus of his practice is the representation of architects and engineers.

Real Life Claims Scenarios and What We Can Learn from Past Mistakes
Kathryn Breard Platt is a Claims Consultant based remotely in Gulfport, Mississippi. Following her graduation from Louisiana State University, Kathryn attended law school at Loyola University New Orleans School of Law. Within a year of beginning her legal career, Kathryn passed three bar exams, obtaining licensure in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. She also completed mediator training and was a registered mediator in the State of Mississippi.
From 2005 until joining The Hartford in early 2022, Kathryn was an attorney with a regional insurance defense law firm headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. For over 16 years, Kathryn represented individuals and businesses in claims involving construction defects (mostly defending engineers and architects), contract disputes, insurance coverage disputes, real estate E&O, premises liability, ADA/FHA violations, trucking and transportation, and title insurance. In line with her passion for defending design professionals, Kathryn regularly provided continuing education seminars for design professionals on behalf of her firm and on behalf of the Mississippi Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Her passion for defending design professionals has spilled over into her handling of claims for The Hartford, and she works closely with insureds to assist them with the resolution of their claim utilizing a collaborative approach to claim resolution.
