If you don’t take a few security and privacy steps, cyber-criminals can break into your home Wi-Fi network and compromise your data. Here are some steps you can take to protect your in home wireless network.
- Change the name of your wireless network – changing your Wi-Fi’s name makes it harder for malicious hackers to know what type of router you have.
- Chose a unique and strong password – try a variety of number and letters, at least 20 characters long.
- Disable the wireless network when you aren’t at home – this closes the opportunity for hacker attempts.
- Router placement – try to place the router as close to the middle of your home as possible.
