Policy Perk – Travelers Crisis Events Coverage

With today’s technology, it’s easier than ever for firms to be on the bad side of the press or public perception, especially after an incident like a claim (and even more so for ones which involve injury or death). Design firms can be negatively affected by and incredibly overwhelmed because of an unexpected instance which has shown them in a bad light. As a result, design firms may have to consult with specialists in order to repair their image and trust with the community.

Travelers Design Professional Liability Policies have incorporated coverage for “Crisis Events”. As defined in the policy, it is “a wrongful act (professional negligence); death, departure or debilitating illness of a principal insured; potential dissolution of the named insured (firm); incident of workplace violence or any other event you reasonably believe could have a material adverse effect upon the business’ reputation”. This definition is meant to be incredibly broad to provide latitude to respond to many different situations.

If your firm needs to hire a public relations firm for any of the above incidents, Travelers will reimburse your firm up to $10,000 which is not subject to your typical deductible. It also does not impact the limits of your Professional Liability policy, ensuring that an unexpected PR incident will not deplete what you witness on your certificates. This additional coverage helps to alleviate some of unplanned circumstances your firm could (but hopefully never has to) deal with.
