Coverages in your firm’s architects/engineers Professional Liability policy that you may not be aware are available –

Depending on the insurance company, there may be some supplemental coverages in your firm’s Professional Liability policy. Here are some examples of those coverages.

Reimbursement of Expenses

Upon the Insurer’s request, the Insured shall attend mediation meetings, arbitration proceedings, hearings, depositions and trials relative to the defense of a Claim(s) and the Insurer will reimburse the Insured for loss of earnings, including reasonable travel expenses, for time taken off work. The maximum the Insurer will pay pursuant to this provision is $500 per Insured Person per day. The Insurer shall issue reimbursement, as set forth above, at the written request of the Insured.

Crisis Event Management Reimbursement

The Company will reimburse the Insured for Crisis Event Management Expenses that are a direct result of a Crisis Event which first occurs and is reported to the Company during the Policy Period. The maximum amount payable, regardless of the number of Crisis Events or the number of Insureds, shall be $10,000 per Crisis Event or related events and $ 30,000 per Policy Period. The Company will issue reimbursement, as set forth above, at the written request of the Named Insured.

Reimbursement for Security Incident

The Company will reimburse the Named Insured for the following response expenses incurred by the Named Insured in responding to a Security Incident the Named Insured first discovers and reports in writing to the Company during the Policy Period. The maximum amount payable shall be $10,000 per Security Incident and $20,000 for all Security Incidents discovered and reported during the Policy Period, regardless of the number of Security Incidents or the number of Insureds.

Defendant Reimbursement

If the Insurer requests the Insured’s presence at a trial, hearing, deposition, mediation or arbitration, the Insurer will pay up to $500 a day per person, subject to a maximum amount of $15,000 per claim.

Non-Profit Directors and Officers Coverage

The Company will reimburse the Insured for up to a maximum of $15,000 per Policy Period for any amounts, including reasonable attorneys’ fees , costs and expenses incurred by counsel, that the Insured becomes legally obligated to pay as a result of a demand for money or services first made against the Insured and reported in writing to the Company during the Policy Period arising out of the Insured’s acts, errors or omissions in their capacity as a director or officer of a non-profit entity.
